What the name does and does not tell us.
Ormond Shores is one of four names we were asked to cover. We found no official source that fixes where it starts or ends, and we do not know whether its streets run along the water. We will not suggest they do. If you are a resident, you know your own street better than we do.
The page therefore covers a set of checks that make sense anywhere near a coast and a river, which describes a large part of Ormond Beach in general terms.
Salt, humidity and exterior metal.
Air near the Atlantic can carry salt, and salt speeds corrosion on thin metal. A vent cover that looked sound last year may show rust at the corners now. A flimsy screen on a gable vent may fail in a storm. Each failure is a possible entry.
- Look for rust or bent edges on vent covers, soffit screens and flashing.
- Press on exposed screens to feel for loose frames.
- Check that pipe and cable collars are still tight.
- Photograph any area where metal has flaked or lifted.

Storm season and cleanup.
Hurricane season brings wind, rain and debris. Storms do not cause rodent problems alone, but they can strip a loose cover, push animals toward dry shelter and leave debris against a wall. After a storm, walk the building before you start cleanup and look for anything that changed.
If you clear debris, wear gloves and keep dust down. Fallen limbs can hide old droppings, and disturbing them raises dust.
Houses, condos and rentals.

Ormond Beach has land on both the barrier island and the mainland side of the Halifax River. We do not know which side your street is on until you say so. It matters for the sealing material we bring, so the dispatcher asks.
How a visit unfolds.
The technician starts outside, walks the roof edge and vents, then checks the attic or ceiling, then the garage. Traps go on active lanes, and sealing uses metal built for damp, salty conditions. A return visit tests each seal.
Safety first.
Leave droppings alone, keep pets and children out and use the CDC steps below if you clean. Do not set bait, since an animal that eats it can die inside a wall.
